Gary Platt ‘71

Gary S. Platt, age 74, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids after a 16 year battle with cancer.

Gary was born on September 19, 1949 to the late Arthur and Doris (Ollerman) Platt. Professionally, he was a general manager in the food service industry in Wisconsin Rapids for many years. Gary was an avid sports fan his entire life. He was a pitcher for the Neenah High School baseball team that was state runner-up in 1965. He continued his baseball career at Wartburg college as a pitcher. He was a high school state champion in football for Neenah High School in 1966. His love for football led him to help coach at East Jr. High school and for various senior league teams in the area. In his later years he loved playing softball and golfing at Homestead golf course in Wisconsin Rapids. Gary was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. His pride and joy was throwing tailgate parties at Lambeau Field every chance he had. Recently, Gary was honored at Lambeau field in attendance of his 500th Packer Game. Gary always enjoyed giving back to his community, especially serving home delivered meals with his friend, Kathy Sacotte. Above all else, Gary loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a friend to everyone he met.

Gary is survived by his Daughter Mary Platt (Rob Ketter) of Neenah, WI; and many close friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his Parents and Grandparents.
