WHY DID YOU CHOOSE WARTBURG: It was kind of a crazy year for all high school seniors last year. I wanted to pick a school that I was familiar with. I had been to Wartburg and knew about the department, and it seemed like the best option for me at that moment in time.

WHAT DREW YOU TO THE JOURNALISM & COMMUNICATION PROGRAM: I had heard that Wartburg’s journalism and communication program was a little different than some of the bigger schools. The program has such a great community, and everyone seemed to want to help each other out. Something about that drew me in, and I like working with other people and knowing that if I have a problem with anything in the journalism field, I can ask anybody in the department, because everyone is so experienced and knowledgeable.

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH ConnecTED: At the beginning of the year, I attended the Involvement Fair, and I didn’t really know about a lot of the clubs on campus and I wasn’t familiar with them. When I saw the TEDx table, I was instantly drawn to it because I love watching TED talks, and I already had an idea of what TEDx is. I told the person at the table that I have always wanted to be involved with TEDx, and that I have always wanted to have my own TED talk. I think TEDx in general has really good messages, and I wanted to be part of something that shares great messages to the world.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING ON THE ConnecTED EXECUTIVE TEAM: My favorite thing about being on the TEDx staff is the fact that I can go to a meeting having a bad day and then the team manages to make me smile. They never fail to make me smile, and that’s just something that I really enjoy. I think that it is important because we have to do a lot of work together, and the fact that we all get along so well translates into our work ethic and group dynamic.
