Name: Kameron Bergen
Graduation Year: 2027
Hometown: Traer
Majors: Accounting and Business Administration
Branch of Service: Iowa Army National Guard
Military Company: I served nearly six years, joining in November 2019. I was part of two companies during my service: the 1168th Transportation Company (out of Marshalltown, Perry, and Audubon) and the 1133rd Transportation Company (out of Mason City and Iowa City), which is the company I deployed with in 2023.

Why did you choose Wartburg: At the time, it was close to home, and I knew it would be a great choice for my undergraduate education.

Why did you join the military: I wanted to prove to everyone, and to myself, that I could accomplish anything I put my mind to. I’m truly glad I did and didn’t listen to those who told me not to. Every moment was worth it — even the moments I wanted to quit — because I had some of the best people I could have asked for serving beside me.

Who has helped you succeed in college? There have been a lot of people at Wartburg who have helped me, especially through some hard times when I wasn’t sure if I could make it through. I’d specifically like to thank MaTina, Dr. Lynch, Jenna, Dr. Larson, Dr. Moore, and Dr. Riswold. They are just a few who come to mind, as everyone here truly cares about your future and will go the extra mile for you.

What are your plans after Wartburg?  After graduation, I plan to go on to a master’s program in business. Following that, I plan to take a break from school to go back into the workforce and get more experience before ultimately going to law school.
