Stephen Hamilton, whose solo recitals include performances at Paris’ Notre Dame, London’s Westminster Abbey and Washington’s National Cathedral, will be the featured artist at the first Wartburg College Bach’s Lunch organ recital series of the 2026-27 season.
A free lecture will begin at noon Friday, Sept. 18, in the Wartburg Chapel Commons, followed by a recital at 12:30 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel sanctuary.
Hamilton’s recital will include pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Bernardo Pasquini and Antonio Valente.
An Iowa native, Hamilton is minister of music emeritus at New York City’s Church of the Holy Trinity and has served on the faculties of the Manhattan School of Music and Queens College. His church music repertoire classes have been presented at seven national conventions of the American Guild of Organists.
He has studied privately with organists Russell Saunders, Arthur Poister and Marie-Claire Alain. Hamilton earned his Doctor of Music Arts from the Manhattan School of Music. Participants are invited to bring a lunch to eat at the lecture. Additional Bach’s Lunch recitals are scheduled for Oct. 9, Nov. 6, Feb. 12, March 5 and April 9.
