Name: Eleigh Davis
Hometown: Monroe, Iowa
Major: Social Work
What has been your favorite class: Working With Different Abilities. This class had both classwork and in person experiences that I loved. We worked with Retrieving Freedom and North Star in town, doing multiple activities throughout the week. This class had a professor but also had a perspective of a parent who also had experience within the world of disabilities because of her daughter and all that she is involved in! It really opened my eyes to the opportunities both around campus and off campus.
Why did you choose Wartburg: My mom graduated from Wartburg in the early ’90s and really enjoyed her time here. I visited and saw the music programs on campus and it got me hooked. When I was here for a Scholarship Day, I found the social work department and they introduced me to the world of social work. Those two together made my decision easy to finalize!
What was the most impactful experience you’ve had at Wartburg: During my third year I had a yearlong fellowship with the Waverly-Shell Rock United Way that gave me an off-campus point of view on what a career in my field would look like.
What advice would you give to new students: Try everything and don’t be scared to get out of your comfort zone.
How would you describe Wartburg in three words: Inclusive, energetic, compassionate
What has been your favorite Wartburg experience: I love Outfly, and May Term!
