Why did you choose Wartburg?
Wartburg had everything I was looking for in a school — an engineering program, baseball, campus involvement — and everyone I worked with along the way was very welcoming.
What sparked your interest in your field of study, and how has your perspective on it changed since your first year?
I’ve always been interested in building, fixing, and tinkering. Through talks with family and friends, I decided engineering was a good career to pursue. Since my first year, I have learned that the people are what make the job so enjoyable.
Can you describe a specific moment when you knew you made the right decision in choosing Wartburg?
During bible study at FCA, surrounded by teammates and friends, I realized how crazy it is that everything lined up this way — to meet a bunch of amazing people, best friends, teammates, and get to study the Word of God with great guys.
Is there a faculty or staff member who made a significant impact on your journey? What is the best piece of advice they gave you?
A lot of staff members impacted my journey, including the baseball coaching staff and the engineering department faculty. The best piece of advice I was given was from Coach Casey Klunder. “The way you do anything is how you do everything.” This motto guides the mindset to do everything, even the little things, with purpose.

Which co-curricular activity defined your college experience?
Baseball connected me with so many amazing people and led me to FCA and my walk with Jesus.
What is the one thing you never imagined you would/could do before coming to Wartburg?
I never thought I would be a leader and someone many look up to on the baseball team, in FCA, and on a college campus in general.
What advice do you have for prospective or first-year students?
If something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. Why not be your best in every aspect of your college career? It goes by faster than you think, so make connections and don’t take any of it for granted.
