Laura Colaneri is an assistant professor of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultural Studies at Wartburg College, where she teaches courses on Spanish language and Latin American culture.
She earned her Ph.D. in romance languages and literatures from the University of Chicago in 2023, where she was also a postdoctoral teaching fellow in the humanities from 2023-2025. Her research interests include Southern Cone literature; dictatorship, authoritarianism, and political violence; horror and Gothic literature and film; and gender and sexuality studies. She has presented at international conferences such as the Modern Language Association and the American Comparative Literature Association. She has also published in Studies in Spanish and Latin American Cinemas and Spanish and Portuguese Review.
