Linda K. Sturtz, 71, of St. Louis Park, MN, formerly of Vinton, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN.
Linda was born November 29, 1952, in Independence, the daughter of Malin and Arlene (Kaiser) Sturtz. She attended school in Vinton, graduating from Washington High School in 1971. She then attended Wartburg College, graduating in 1975, where she earned her teaching degree. Linda’s teaching career was as a middle school science teacher. She taught in the school districts of Myservey-Thornton and Waterloo, both in Iowa. She was also a tennis and swimming coach for the district. Eventually, Linda left her teaching career, went to work for Northwestern Bell, and moved to Minneapolis, MN. While employed by “Ma Bell”, she went back to school to study medical coding. After retiring from Northwestern Bell, she was then employed as a medical coder for Park Nicolett Hospital in MN until her retirement from there.
Linda served as a backpacking tour guide during her teaching days. She also worked on Mackinac Island her last two years at Wartburg. Not only did Linda have many adventures with her mom and sister, Lori, when visiting California, she also had adventures close to home trying to locate a waterpark or attending the Renaissance Festival. She also enjoyed photography, developing her own pictures, and entering her photos in contests. Linda remembered birthdays, holidays, sent random texts for odd “holidays” (PI Day, Star Wars Day), and always signed her cards, “Love ya bunches”.
Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her brother, Dennis (Rosalee) Sturtz; five nieces and nephews: Michelle (Kevin) Bookmeier, Adam (JoEllen) Sturtz, Kelly (Rich) Shipley, Matt (Becky) Sturtz, and Jennifer Sturtz; and seven great-nieces and nephews: Taylor, Dawson, Matthew, Isaac, Ryan, Annie, and Carlea.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale; and sister, Lori.
All obituary information has been taken from the funeral home, newspaper or other online resource.
