Charlie left us suddenly on Monday, February 19, 2024. We will miss his sense of humor and his positive unique spin on life.
Charles John Fischer was born February 13, 1948, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and was raised in Latimer, Iowa. He graduated from CAL Community in 1966, and then went on to graduate from Wartburg College.
Charlie met Karma, the love of his life. They married on May 16, 1976, and enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. They resided in Waterloo where they raised their son Nicholas (Nick). He worked for Iowa mutual for 30+ years as an insurance adjuster.
Charlie was known as The Duckman among family members and was lovingly referred to as Uncle Duck by all his nieces and nephews. Charlie was also a sports fanatic. He participated throughout various phases of his life in baseball, football, basketball, tennis, and golf. Charlie enjoyed being around family and friends, especially his Friday night gang. Other passions include his love for music, reading and daily Yahtzee matches against his wife, Karma. It should also be said that he enjoyed researching various exotic recipes for Karma to prepare. Since retiring, he and Karma enjoyed their winters in Fountain Hills, AZ. Charlie was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Sunnyside Country Club, and served in the National Guard.
He is survived by his loving wife Karma; son Nicholas; sister Connie (Jim) Crawford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles (Bud) and Jean Fischer.
