Why did you choose Wartburg?
I chose Wartburg because of the loving, supportive atmosphere of the track team and coaches, along with the high academic standards in the classroom.
What sparked your interest in your field of study, and how has your perspective on it changed since your first year?
Honestly, I’ve known my desired occupation was to be a physical therapist since high school. I wanted to get a minor in coaching, but since I am graduating in three years, I didn’t have time to complete it.
Can you describe a specific moment when you knew you made the right decision in choosing Wartburg?
I knew Wartburg was the right place for me when I was a bit sad to go home for freshman year Fall Break. My new friends and I were so sad to be half a week apart from each other. The return to campus after break was so exciting and made me realize that this was my new home.
Is there a someone on campus who made a significant impact on your journey? What is the best piece of advice they gave you?
Coach Newsom had a huge impact on my choice in Wartburg College. Since then, he has continued to shape my journey on and off the track. His strong faith is inspiring to be led by. I am forever grateful to be guided to such an impactful team.
Which co-curricular activity defined your college experience?
Being a leader for Wartburg FCA has been an eye-opening and truly life-changing experience. It’s been an honor to lead other female athletes to Christ and continue to grow in my faith with fellowship. It’s been an amazing opportunity to share the Gospel.
What advice do you have for prospective or first-year students?
Have an open mind and eager heart. These years go by fast; don’t take it for granted. Every day is a new opportunity for growth and to meet new people.
