James “Jim” Douglas Carver Obituary
James “Jim” D. Carver, 82, of Waverly died on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his residence in Waverly.
James Douglas Carver was born on April 15, 1942, the son of Francis and Dorothy (Wilson) Carver in Spencer, Iowa. He earned his Eagle Scout and was active in sports while in high school, notably football, basketball, swimming and diving. Jim received his BA in Fine Arts at UNI and also attended the University of Iowa and Iowa State University for City Planning. Jim had two previous marriages to Daniela Salvadori and Jan Chesler. He worked for the City of Minneapolis as their city planner for 9 years, 31 years as an independent contractor, a construction manager for approximately 50 Commercial buildings and finally as a commercial painter for around 10 years in Waverly before retiring in 2008.
Jim was an accomplished artist and loved to travel. He enjoyed most sports, most recently his favorite was watching football. For many years he loved to garden and was a great cook, especially Italian foods. He also enjoyed reading many kinds of books.
Survivors are his daughter, Catia (Kevin Roentgen) Salvadori of Franklin, Tennessee, granddaughter, Siena Noel Roentgen, brother, David Carver of Bloomington, Minnesota and two sisters, Kathleen Hardwig of Castro Valley, California, and Barb Bridges of Waverly, one step son, Matthew (Trang) Chesler, many nieces and nephews and a special friend, Veronica McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Dorothy, sister-in-law, Judy Carver, and three brothers-in-law, Richard Hardwig, Richard Dewey and Fred Bridges.
