After graduating from Wartburg, Kilgus spent a year as a full-time volunteer with Urban Servant Corps in Denver, Colo., living in an intentional community while serving the inner city. She went on to teach kindergarten and earn a master’s in nonprofit management before returning to Urban Servant Corps as its executive director. Kilgus now recruits, trains, and directs the program’s full-time volunteers. She’s a charter member of and actively engaged with House for All Saints and Sinners, a mission congregation in Denver, and she’s a Wartburg West National Advisory Board member. Kilgus is a former board member of Capitol Hill United Neighbors, a participant in Capitol Hill United Ministries, and a member of Community Shares of Colorado Executive Leadership Institute.
