Casey Reints

Assistant Professor of Social Work

BSW, University of Northern Iowa, 2009
MSW, University of Northern Iowa, 2011

After spending more than 15 years in the field, Casey joined the Wartburg faculty in 2024. Her background includes work in disability services, specifically in brain injury and mental health. Casey’s experience also includes several years working with those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and homelessness.

In the four years before coming to Wartburg, she was the executive director of a private charitable foundation where she supported a Board of Trustees in making grants to organizations and communities across an 8-county area. Over time, she became increasingly involved in grant management, fundraising, policy advocacy, and communication. She has successfully secured local, state, and federal funding for innovative social service programs and and local community projects.

Casey is passionate about making advocacy and grant writing more approachable to those who wish to solve society’s most challenging and pressing issues. She has provided grant research and consultation to small organizations seeking grant funding for the first time. She also has provided training to other social workers in securing and managing grants. Casey aims to increase equity in philanthropy by helping historically under-resourced individuals and organizations access the funding they need to meet the needs of their communities.

In addition to her role as assistant professor, Casey is also the faculty adviser to Wartburg’s Social Work Club and serves as the field director for the Department of Social Work.

In the community, Casey serves on the Shell Rock Board of Trustees Advisory Board and the Shell Rock Community Development Corporation Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Waverly-Shell Rock School District’s School Improvement Advisory Committee.
