Wartburg students to present research from summer program at University of Iowa

Two Wartburg College students conducting research as part of the 2022 University of Iowa Summer Research Opportunity Program will present their findings on Wednesday, July 27.

Hidaly Hernandez, a senior majoring in neuroscience and Spanish, and Roberto Munoz, a junior in biochemistry, will share their work at the UI Summer Undergraduate Research Conference between 1 and 5 p.m., in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.

The students were paired with University of Iowa faculty mentors to conduct cancer research as part of the program.

“As a pre-med student at Wartburg, I saw this as a great opportunity I had to take,” Munoz said.

“I will have a variety of new lab techniques and learn to work new lab equipment that I will surely be using in my future career,” Hernandez said.

In addition to the research stipend, the students also received a stipend from Wartburg’s undergraduate research program.
