HOW DID WARTBURG PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR NEXT STEP: Wartburg prepared me for the next step through applicable courses that would help me learn technical skills that will be used within my field, as well as by helping me to land an internship that would lead me to the job I have accepted for after graduation.

DID YOU DO ANY INTERNSHIPS WHILE AT WARTBURG:  I spent the last two summers as an actuarial intern at Transamerica Life Insurance Company where I was working on developing an executive reporting platform for its quarterly reports as well as redoing its Pricing Workbook for the Workplace Market.

DID YOU DO ANY RESEARCH AT WARTBURG: Through different capstone research classes I conducted research on modeling the price volatility of Bitcoin as well as analyzing the differences in different option pricing models.

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS: My favorite class was either Actuarial Mathematics, Introduction to Computer Programming, or Financial Markets and Modern Money. I got a great deal of enjoyment out of all three of those classes and all led to me having an increased passion in different areas.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST DIFFICULT CLASS: Actuarial Mathematics was by far the most difficult class that I’ve had at Wartburg, but simultaneously it best prepared me for my actuary exams and life after college.

DO YOU HAVE ANY MENTORS ON CAMPUS: Throughout the last four years, all of my advisers have served as great resources in guiding my experience on campus and leading me to where I am today.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU NEVER THOUGHT YOU COULD DO BEFORE COMING TO WARTBURG: I never imagined that I would have had the ability to spend multiple summers working with actuaries, and then, in turn, securing a job prior to moving in for senior year to work at my dream job.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WARTBURG MEMORY: My favorite Wartburg memory has been all of the experiences that I have gotten to be a part of through baseball and as a member of the Student Senate Executive Team. The people I have gotten to meet and the memories I have gotten to make because of that have been incredibly rewarding.

WHY WAS WARTBURG WORTH IT: Wartburg was worth it due to the connections and the memories that I have made over the last four years. I was able to have an experience unique to who I am and be involved in a combination of activities that would not have been possible anywhere else. Wartburg has been a tremendous experience for me and has given me memories and friendships that have made the last four years truly unforgettable.
