Margaret Lynn Baker of Olathe Kansas unexpectedly passed away November 04, 2024.
Margaret (Maggie) was born on November 20, 1953, in New Hampton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Mark Homer Baker and Madelynn Anne Baker (nee Elscott). Maggie graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1973, then went on to Wartburg College, earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy (minor in political science). Maggie then attended the University of Iowa where she obtained a master’s degree in library science.
After graduation, Maggie took a position at the Fort Dodge Public Library working there until 1987. Thereafter she took a similar position at the Council Bluffs, IA. Maggie then moved to the Olathe Public Library and spent the remainder of her working career there.
Remaining to cherish Maggie’s memory are her brother Raymond Mark Baker (Diane) of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Keith Homer Baker (Ellen) of West Chester, Ohio, and Daniel J. Baker (Teri) of Overland Park, Kansas and nephews Micahael Baker, Kyle Baker and Travis Baker and nieces Meredith Baker and Allison Baker.
Maggie was an avid and engaged student of genealogy. She pursued her passion to develop a detailed and meticulously documented family history tracing back to origins in Europe and pre-revolutionary America. Maggie shared her talents with the Johnson County Genealogy Society for over ten years, serving as their librarian for several years.
Maggie was an avid gardener and cook. She also enjoyed travelling, bicycling, and the outdoors,
Maggie will long- miss with great sadness by all who know, especially her brother’s and their families, her extended family, and friends.
