Kent Dahlquist ’65

Kent Glenn Dahlquist, age 83 passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025 in St. Cloud, MN in the arms of his loving wife and children.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on April 21, 2025 at Hope Covenant Church in St. Cloud, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.

Kent was born on February 2, 1942 to Glenn and Thelma [Mittun] Dahlquist. He grew up in Moorhead, MN and Cosmos, MN and was the oldest of three children. After high school, Kent attended Wartburg College and graduated in 1965. He taught high school chemistry in Iowa. When he returned to Minnesota, he earned a master’s degree from St. Cloud State University. He moved to Colorado for a number of years. In 1984 he returned to St. Cloud State University to teach physics and astronomy. Later, he was employed with the Tri-County Solid Waste Management Commission until his retirement in 2014.

Kent lived a tremendously full life as a seeker of knowledge, man of faith, wisdom, humility and a great sense of humor. His hobbies and interests included reading, bible study, gardening, fishing, hunting and many more.

Kent is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jill; children Erin (Tony) Pollock, Bryan (Amy) Lake, and Kathryn (Russell) Polum; grandchildren Reese and Chloe Polum, Ella and Collin Pollock; brother Terry (Sandra) Dahlquist; sister Julie Foxx; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
