Helping the next class of Knights thrive

NAME: Maia Augustine
HOMETOWN: Cedar Rapids
MAJOR: Exercise science

INVOLVEMENT ON CAMPUS: Dance Marathon, Homecoming Committee, Ambassadors, Orientation Staff

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE EXERCISE SCIENCE: When I came on my visit, it was very clear that it was a great fit for me. I have always been interested in athletics and sciences and after meeting with lots of professors, faculty, and students, I was drawn even further into the program.

WHAT DREW YOU TO JOIN THE ORIENTATION STAFF :I had such an enjoyable and memorable experience, and I wanted to make sure the incoming Knights had the same experience. Being around people has always been something I enjoyed and the desire to help others has always been natural for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING ON ORIENTATION STAFF: My favorite about being on orientation staff is getting to know so many people including new students and the other leaders.

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MOST THIS YEAR: Being back on campus. With everything that has been going on, it feels good to be back around such a great community. I’m thrilled to spend more time with friends that I met here at Wartburg and did not get to see over the summer. I am also excited to start my new classes because they are more specific to my major.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THE INCOMING FIRST-YEARS: Make the most out of every opportunity you have on campus!

WHY IS WARTBURG WORTH IT: The individualized learning that Wartburg’s small class sizes offer.
