JOURNALISM & FILM SUMMER CAMPS

Due to the concerns related to the community spread of coronavirus,
the following camps have been canceled for summer 2020.

PARTICIPANTS: Individual students (Grades 9-12) or school groups may participate with or without an advisor. Junior/senior students that participate in the boot camp will receive a $1,500 scholarship to Wartburg.

  • Cost: $25 per person, includes lunch and a t-shirt

Your Voice: 
A Multi-Media Journalism Boot Camp

Thursday, June 11, 2020, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Emerging journalists will be encouraged to develop skills in an ever-changing industry of storytelling through this real-world experience at the boot camp.

Camp Features:

  • Gain hand-on experience in shooting video, writing news, and reporting.
  • Use industry specific technology and editing software through the lens of the news videographer and photojournalist.
  • Learn from experienced professional journalists, faculty mentors, and college students.

NEWS PACKAGE (multi-media): Student journalists will use the foundation skills learned at the camp to create as a team a broadcast news package that will be shown at the conclusion of the day.

Young Filmmakers Camp: 
A Boot Camp for Beginning Filmmakers

Friday, June 12, 2020, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Teens interested in filmmaking will use creativity and be exposed to the basic elements of the filmmaking process.

Camp Features:

  • Gain hand-on experience in producing, directing, filming, and editing.
  • Use industry specific videography technology and editing software through the lens of cinematography.
  • Students will work in film crew positions, such as director, producer, cameraperson, editor and more.
  • Learn from professional filmmakers, faculty mentors, and college students.

SHORT FILM: Student filmmakers will use the foundation skills learned at the camp to create as a team a short narrative film that will be screened at the conclusion of the day.
