Wartburg brought out my confidence

NAME: Barbara Tigere
HOMETOWN: Harare, Zimbabwe
MAJOR: Public health
MINORS: Social welfare, leadership

HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON YOUR MAJOR: It has been my passion for a while. I have always been passionate about health care because I believe that health is very essential.

HOW DID ORANGE CONNECTION HELP YOU FOCUS YOUR DECISION TO MAJOR IN PUBLIC HEALTH? The experience was not directly related to my major; however, it gave me experience in my minor.

WHAT DID YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR ORANGE CONNECTION EXPERIENCE: I enjoyed the alumni hosts the most. I think that was a good way to see how people’s lives turn out after Wartburg. I got to be hosted by a very nice couple who met at Wartburg, and they were very inspirational.

WHY WOULD YOU ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO PARTICIPATE IN A FUTURE OC OPPORTUNITY: I think it is a good experience to get to shadow someone. You get to see what they do, and you can ask as many questions as you wish. It was an insightful experience.
