Dorothy M. Meier, 96, of Wapakoneta, died 3:30 a.m., Mon. June 28, 2021, at the Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born July 27, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of John Louis and Mary Ann (Erdman) Braun. On Feb. 6, 1943, she married Frederick Eugene Meier, who preceded her in death on May 8, 1986.
Dorothy lived a long life, blessed in many ways. She loved and talked much of her years of working at W.T. Grant Company, Val Stores, and the Teddy Bear restaurant, all in Wapakoneta. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she sang in the adult choir and was active in the Ladies’ Sewing Group. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved making things for her family and friends. Dorothy was also a great cook and baker; there was never a guest in her house that didn’t enjoy a nice meal, a fresh baked good, and a great cup of coffee. Dorothy also had a way with animals; she always had a dog at her feet and a bird in her house, among many other animals over the years. She loved to nurture and grow her many plants inside and outside the house. She seemed to have a green thumb and always seemed to be able to nurse a sick plant back to health.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carol L. (Richard) Sheipline, Ft. Wayne, IN, Michael L. (Sandra) Meier, Wapakoneta, Christopher T. (Sally) Meier, Oregon, OH, son-in-law, Eric (Linda) Ruppert, Wapakoneta, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda A. Ruppert, 2 grandchildren, and 3 brothers, George, Thomas, and Bernard Braun.
All obituary information has been taken from the funeral home, newspaper or other online resource.
