Wartburg College’s Opera Workshop and Wartburg Players will perform “A Little Night Music” by Stephen Sondheim at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15 in McCaskey Lyceum.
This event is open to the public and tickets are available at the door for $15.
“I hope everybody in this community attends and recognizes the magic that our outstanding students bring to the stage,” said Brian Pfaltzgraff, associate professor of music and adviser of both the Opera Workshop and Wartburg Players. “Their singing is extraordinary. To watch them inhabit each of their characters has been a gift to me.”
This year’s production was chosen by Pfaltzgraff and tailored to address the next professional steps of the students involved. With text from a play by Henrik Ibsen and adapted by Hugh Wheeler, the production revolves around finding the correct partner, with all cast members navigating their way through a series of relationships until they find their match.
Wartburg’s Opera Workshop is a space for emerging music professionals to learn skills they will need in the performance world. It is part of the music curriculum and students earn a credit for the class. Opera Workshop often partners with Wartburg Players for its productions.
