Four new members were recently named to the Wartburg College Board of Regents. Kirk Kleckner, Mike Mallaro, Matthew Petersen and Gordon Sween will begin their terms on June 1.
Kleckner, a 1981 Wartburg College graduate from Bradenton, Florida, is the founder and former president of ValuationUSA. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota and is a Certified Public Accountant in Minnesota and Iowa. He has been a non-Regent member of the board business and finance committee since 2022.
Mallaro, of Cedar Falls, served eight years as CEO of VGM Group before transitioning to the executive chairman of the board in 2024. Prior to his work as the CEO, he was the company’s CFO for 15 years. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa.
Petersen, a 2006 Wartburg graduate from Denver, Colorado, is a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP. He served on the Wartburg College Alumni Board from 2020 until being elected to the Board of Regents. He also earned a Doctor of Law from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Sween, a 1989 Wartburg graduate from Minneapolis, is a retired health care executive. He previously served as president and COO of Dorsata Inc. Sween has been a member of the President’s Advisory Council since 2022.
The Wartburg Board of Regents works with the college president to provide fiduciary leadership for the college and is guided by the mission of the institution.
