Gary Kelley and Scott Cawelti will discuss “Four Cinematic Masterpieces” during Wartburg College’s next Keep on Learning community education series beginning Thursday, Sept. 9.

During the four-week course, Kelley, an artist, and Cawelti, an emeritus professor at the University of Northern Iowa, will share discussions of four major films from both visual and narrative perspectives.

Classes continue Sept. 16, 23 and 30 in the Heritage Room of Saemann Student Center. Coffee will be served at 9 a.m., followed by the class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Parking is available near Saemann Student Center for those entering campus via Wartburg Boulevard.

Pre-registration is not required. The first class of each session is free; a $40 fee due at the second class covers the rest of the sessions.

Other topics offered in the series will include “Science Fiction in Print, Film and Television” in October, “A Peek at My Teaching Notes” in November, “Stagecraft of the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries” in January, “Religion, Netflix and Chill” (a virtual session) in February, “Lies, Secrets and Self Deception” in March and “Data-Driven Decision Making” in April.
