Symphonic Band 2018

Symphonic Band 2018

The Wartburg College Symphonic Band will perform its winter concert Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m., at the Waverly Area Veterans Post, 1300 Fourth St. NW.

“This concert is in the style of a vintage band concert with selections from the turn of the 20th century,” said Scott Muntefering, Symphonic Band director. “Many students will be featured as soloists, and the Flute Choir and Wartubium will provide holiday music.”

The 72-member band will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key and Second Suite in F, Op. 28 No. 2 by Gustav Holst. Trombonists Emily Bingham, Matthew Ohl and Dominic Hanson will be featured during “Teddy Trombone” by Henry Fillmore. Muntefering will have a trumpet solo during “La Reine D’Amour” by John Philip Sousa, which will be conducted by Danica Duellman, a senior from Dodge, Wis.

The Flute Choir is directed by Dominique Cawley. Richard Scheffel directs Wartubium.

A free-will offering will be collected for the Waverly Area Veterans Post.
