Class of 1966

Forty-seven members of the Wartburg College Class of 1966 gathered on campus May 19-22 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

The group, which also included 23 additional family members and friends, participated in a Keep on Learning community education session, attended a reunion luncheon, shared a dinner at Prairie Links Golf & Event Center and joined others for a Commencement dinner celebrating the Class of 2016. As part of tradition for the 50-year reunion classes, the Class of 1966 also took part in the weekend’s Commencement ceremony, joining the processional with the graduating Class of 2016.

During the reunion luncheon, Harry and Elle Blobaum, Cindy Westerman and Bob Severson, the class’s giving campaign chairs, presented the college with a “check” for nearly $3.4 million that represented the last five years of giving from all class members.

“The 50-year reunion weekend is one of my favorite events; their commitment to the college, even after 50 years, shows the strength of the community we have at Wartburg,” said Laurie Everhardt, alumni/parent relations and annual giving associate. “It is really fun to see them reconnect, share memories and celebrate their accomplishments.”
