The Rev. Eric Elnes, an internationally recognized pastor and author, will speak at Wartburg College Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

Elnes will discuss “Was That God Talking or Just the Pizza? The New Spiritual Awakening in an Appropriately Skeptical Age,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Whitehouse Business Center 214. He also will preach at a 10:15 a.m. Wednesday worship service in the Wartburg Chapel.

Elnes is senior minister at Countryside Community Church in Omaha, Neb., and earned his Ph.D. in Biblical studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. He is internationally recognized for creating multi-sensory, experiential worship that transcends classification as “traditional” or “contemporary.”

His books include “The Phoenix Affirmations: A New Vision for the Future of Christianity” and “Asphalt Jesus: Finding a New Christian Faith Along the Highways of America.” Both books will be available for sale after his presentation Tuesday.

“The Asphalt Gospel,” a film featuring Elnes and five other individuals, will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday in Room 214 of Whitehouse Business Center. The 90-minute documentary by Scott Griessel was produced by Crosswalk America. It tells the story of six ordinary people determined to spread a message of compassion and inclusion as they walk to Washington, D.C., and share their surprising and moving story of hope.

All three events are free and open to the public.
