Waverly Health Center volunteers
 — An informational meeting for community members interested in volunteering at the Waverly Health Center will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Tendrils Rooftop Garden. Attendees can park in the Red Lot and enter through the Tendrils Rooftop Garden event entrance, located south of the Center Pharmacy drive-up.

Lunch on the bridge — A benefit for Cedar Valley Friends of the Family, will be held on the bridge over the Cedar River on the Rail Trail, Sept. 16 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The cost per ticket is $7 per sack lunch. Music will be provided. Call Marcie at 352-1108 for more details and/or to get tickets. An order of 10 or more lunches will be delivered if requested. 

Wine tasting and tapas — Self-Help International is holding a wine-tasting and tapas benefit to help bring sustainable to families in Ghana, West Africa, and Nicaragua, Central America. The Oct. 6 benefit from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Tendrils Rooftop Garden at the Waverly Health Center will feature a buffet of Spanish tapas and complementary wine, accompanied by musical interludes. Best Dam Run — The Waverly Exchange Club, in partnership with Waverly Health Center and The W, is sponsoring the Best Dam Run, Saturday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m. at the Waverly Civic Center and along the Cedar River. The event consists of a 5K walk/run, an 8K run and free kids run. Participants will receive a run T-shirt, breakfast catered by Pizza Ranch and the opportunity to win medals. Benefit for Martha Noah — Former longtime Wartburg College employee Martha Noah was injured a motorcycle accident on Aug. 7, suffering serious injuries that will prevent her from working for up to a year. As a self-employed massage therapist, her inability to work has strained her family’s finances. A benefit will be Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at the Cedar Valley Community Church, 3520 Ansborough Ave,  Waterloo, with silent-auction items, a bake sale, $5 new-to-you purses, and local consultants including Scentsy and Pampered Chef.
