Built in 2002, the Platte
Observatory includes a concrete area, where telescopes can be set
up on permanently mounted piers for observation. An adjacent building
houses telescopes and related equipment. In 2004, the observatory
was expanded and now includes a deep-sky survey telescope and planetary
telescope, which are housed under a roll-off roof, equipped with
CCD cameras for scientific imaging, and can be remotely controlled
via the Internet.
