Library
The Robert and Sally Vogel Library is an innovative, technologically
oriented, "learner's library" facility that provides
space for both individual and group activities. It is connected
to the Wartburg skywalk system.
The first floor
of the library features the central integrated collection
of books, periodicals and non-print materials; a curriculum
wing housing elementary and secondary teaching materials with
a classroom for the education department; a coffeeshop; and
playback rooms, providing technology needed to use materials
in the collection, such as microfilm readers and printers,
VCRs, and CD players.
The second floor has the service
desk, staff offices and work space plus an information library,
where researchers have access to the reference collection
and multimedia computers; information literacy classrooms;
and a Center for Faculty Learning.
The third floor contains group
study rooms; a central learning commons and learning cloister;
individual information harbors and learning pods that accommodate
a variety of learning and study styles; the
Pathways Center for comprehensive advising, career development,
testing, supplemental instruction, writing assistance and
personal counseling; and the Wartburg archives, which will
also include materials pertaining to the history of Iowa broadcasting.
The
first floor collection uses an electronic compact shelving
system, where shelves open at the push of a button.
