Wartburg College Chapel
The Wartburg Chapel serves as a campus worship center and houses Wartburg's campus ministry programs. A Campus Ministry Suite, housing the offices of the college pastors, the director of church relations, and campus ministry, is located on the building's skyway level. The Chapel Commons on the lower level is used for meetings and receptions.

In a typical week during the academic year, the chapel schedule includes Sunday morning worship, Sunday evening sessions for Bible study leaders, morning chapel services on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and a Wednesday evening Eucharist. Throughout the week, Campus Ministry groups use the chapel for meetings, activities, and planning sessions. The Wartburg Choir performs in the chapel, and the building is used for frequent conferences and meetings.

The chapel organ has 31 ranks and a total of 1,771 pipes playable from two manuals and pedal. The organ features mechanical key action, electric stop action, and a solid state multi-level combination system. Its maple cabinet coordinates with the other woodwork in the building. Like the chapel, which takes its inspiration from the architecture of German parish churches, the organ's tonal character was inspired by the old German Baroque organs.

Wartburg Chapel

The chapel architecture integrates Wartburg's German heritage and its Iowa roots. The exterior design, influenced by European churches, is carried out through extensive use of Anamosa limestone quarried at Stone City, Iowa. Close inspection reveals geodes imbedded in the stone throughout the structure. The unusual roof, which weighs 40 tons, consists of large concrete shingles, each weighing 13 pounds and held in place with copper nails.
