Making A Difference

EARTH, or Environmental Activists Reaching Toward Humanity, is a student-run organization dedicated to creating a green and sustainable campus. Throughout the year, we sponsor several activities and events to raise environmental awareness in the Wartburg and Waverly communities. Through our efforts, we hope to not only educate the faculty, staff, and students, but make a noticeable difference in energy consumption and waste.

Our long term goals include gaining a wider presence on campus so students will be able to see the importance of environmentalism; connecting with local and national organizations so our efforts can be felt on a larger scale; and  continuing with our educational efforts so Wartburg students are encouraged to make the world a greener place during school and after graduation.

Past events have included, but are not limited to:

February Green-A-Thon
Recreational activities with CrawDaddies, such as kayaking and snowshoeing.
Participating in the GoGreen Fair with local business promoting alternative energy, environmental products and local and organic farming.
Working with Student Senate to obtain signatures for the Graduation Pledge, which encourages graduation seniors to live an environment-friendly lifestyle while promoting “green” efforts in the workplace.
