Social Work Club
The Social Work Club provides
social work students an excellent opportunity to participate in service
activities as well as to socialize. Each year, the Social Work Club
participates in various activities including the Holiday Shoppe.
Holiday Shoppe
Holiday Shoppe is an activity
that the Social Work Club has done annually about two decades. Every
year the club raises funds for families on public assistance in Bremer
County during Christmastime. From
September to December, the Social Work Club is busy raising funds, collecting donations,
recruiting volunteers, and generating publicity. During
two days in December, families come to “shop” for presents for their
kids and teenagers. Brand new toys, bicycles, clothing and toiletry
items have all been bought with the money the club has raised. For most
families, the gifts we give them are the only gifts they get. The club
and the Holiday Shoppe committee enjoy putting smiles on over 300 kids’
faces every year.

The Social Work Department has active partnerships with numerous organizations throughout the nation and around the world.
