SO422 Field Sociology
Integrating community into research methods is a component of sociological investigation, and integral to student learning in community sociology. Community-based course activities serve the interests of the learning process and help students prepare for life-long civic engagement. At the same time, community partners benefit from the completed research.

Community sociology students have partnered in research endeavors with community organizations in Denver, Colo. and Minneapolis, Minn. Students developed research proposals for their partner organizations, and subsequently conducted qualitative research with the intent of informing the organizations’ activity and effectiveness.
