REAL WARTBURG > WHAT TO EXPECT

What to Expect

Academic Environment
The academic programs at Wartburg are rigorous. However, the Wartburg community is very supportive and provides opportunities for students to succeed.

What does "liberal arts" mean?
In a world where technology and societies change as they become more globally connected, it has become increasingly important to think big.
The liberal arts experience is a process of liberating the mind. It is about inquiry, discovery and discipline - thinking critically and creatively. When you unite the liberal arts with any specific field of study, you gain the skills that will benefit you no matter what you do in life.

The Wartburg Faculty
Faculty are recruited nationally and teach all classes. Among full-time ranked faculty members, 94 percent have terminal degrees in their fields.

Think Big
At Wartburg, you will take courses in the Wartburg Plan of Essential Education as well as your major/minor courses. This gives you a broad view of the world and how you are a part of it.

Courses in the Wartburg Plan of Essential Education look at problems of personal and social importance, the interconnected nature of academic disciplines, reasoning skills, literacy competancies and faith and reflection.
