More about Suzanne Bullard

A native of upstate New York, cellist Suzanne Bullard began her formal studies at age 11 with the late Rudolf Doblin. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin-Wallace University Conservatory of Music, Graduate Performance Diploma from the Longy School of Music, and Master of Music degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Her principal teachers have included Regina Mushabac, Ann Alton, Andrew Mark, and Jonathan Chenoweth. She has participated in masterclasses with cellists Mark Kosower and Brooks Whitehouse. Ms. Bullard has performed in numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Schenectady (NY) Symphony, Newton (MA) Symphony, Wartburg Community Symphony, Euclid (OH) Civic Orchestra , Orchestra Iowa, Cedar Rapids Opera Orchestra, and Dorian Opera Festival Orchestra. Ms. Bullard has been a member of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony since 2002. Ms. Bullard has had the honor of performing with notable artists and ensembles such as Yo Yo Ma, Mark Kosower, William Bennett, Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg, Edgar Meyer, Peter Schickele, Zuill Bailey, Chris Thile, Smokey Robinson, Jonny Matthis, Gabriel Kahane, Brandi Carlile, and Mannheim Steamroller. An active chamber musician, Ms. Bullard has been involved with multiple seasons of the Cedar Valley Chamber Music Festival, the Castle Chamber Series at Wartburg College, and the deBlasiis Chamber Series in Glens Falls, NY. Outside of the classical music scene, Ms. Bullard has recorded and performed with the Cedar Falls rock band “Toast”. Ms. Bullard has completed extensive teacher training in the Suzuki Method, and has been a faculty member of the University of Northern Iowa Suzuki School since 2002, where she is the department chair for low strings, maintains a cello studio of approximately 30 students ranging in age from 3 years old through adult, and coaches student chamber ensembles. Additionally she has served as cello instructor for the University of Northern Iowa Middle School String Camp. Ms. Bullard resides in Cedar Falls with her husband and son.
