More about Pamela Ohrt

Professor Ohrt holds a B.S. degree in journalism and Spanish from Iowa State University and an M.A. degree in communication studies from the University of Northern Iowa.

Her background includes 27 years of media experience in radio and newspapers. Ohrt was news director of KOEL-AM and FM radio and editor of the Oelwein Daily Register. Prior to joining the Wartburg faculty fulltime, Ohrt had 13 years experience in teaching college courses, including composition, news reporting, editing, and feature writing.

In addition to teaching communication courses at Wartburg, she is currently the adviser to KWAR, the college-run radio station, and the Fortress, the Wartburg yearbook. Her teaching responsibilities include the introductory communication arts course, journalism and news reporting, radio production, and diversity and the media, which is the topic of her Inquiry Studies course.

She has received awards from the Iowa Broadcasters Association in the “best newscast” category and from the Iowa Newspaper Foundation for news writing. Ohrt is currently executive director of the Iowa College Media Advisers organization.
