Established in 2014 through a generous donation from Eugene Drape
Dr. Scott Muntefering received his Bachelor of Music Education degree (Magna Cum Laude) and Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from the University of South Dakota. He has the distinction of being the first recipient of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance from North Dakota State University.
He teaches instrumental music education courses and applied trumpet, and serves as director of the Wartburg Symphonic Band, Brass Choir and Trumpet Choir. Dr. Muntefering has presented clinics and lectures for the Iowa Music Educator¹s Conference, the Iowa Bandmaster¹s Conference, the International Historic Brass Society, the Feminist Theory and Music Conference and the International Women¹s Brass Conference. He is in high demand as a guest director, soloist, and adjudicator throughout the Midwest. Muntefering is a regular contributor to the Iowa Band History Project sponsored by the Iowa Bandmasters Association.
Dr. Muntefering is the founder/coordinator of the Wartburg Trumpet Festival, an annual event which invites high school trumpeters from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois to participate in a mass trumpet honor choir and learn from internationally known trumpet artists. Past trumpet festival artists have included Allen Vizzutti, Allan Dean, and Vince DiMartino. He is also a member of the prestigious early music ensemble the Kentucky Baroque Trumpets and has recently been named to the 2015 National Community Band.
