Derek Solheim earned his B.A. in Communication Arts-Public Relations from Wartburg College and his M.A. in Counseling from Missouri State University.  Derek has worked in various sectors of higher education across the Midwest in Admissions, Residence Life, Judicial Affairs, and Career Services for the past 20 years.  He has been active in his community by serving as Membership Chair, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Waverly Area Development Group and the Waverly Chamber of Commerce.  As a certified MBTI facilitator, Derek has conducted MBTI training sessions for groups and organizations across the Midwest for the past 10 years.  Derek and his wife Heidi live in Waverly, Iowa with their two boys and two mini-Dachshunds named Louie and Murphy.

Jette Odgaard Irgens, Cand. Theol., Assistant Director for FYE, Academic Advising & Student Success holds a degree in theology from the University of Oslo, Norway. Prior to coming to Wartburg, she worked for Kirkens Nødhjelp (suicide prevention) in Copenhagen, Denmark & the ELCA, stationed in São Leopoldo, RS, Brazil – with a number of NGO’s (HIV/AIDS prevention). She has taught a variety of courses at Wartburg (such as, freshman seminar, composition, ELL cultural adjustment, intercultural communication). Jette directs the Writing, Reading, and Speaking Lab (WRSL) and coordinates advising & the first-year experience programs. In addition, she oversees the Summer Knights Bridge Program.

TJ TJ Warren

TJ Warren earned both his B.A. in Elementary-Middle Level Education and M.A.E. in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs from the University of Northern Iowa.  Before coming to Wartburg, TJ worked in a variety of areas within higher education including residence life, student activities, and new student programs.  As the Pathways Center Associate for Vocation and Mentoring, TJ serves as a mentor to students helping them discern who they are and how they can contribute to the world’s needs; a role he finds to be very fulfilling.  TJ oversees mentoring programs and initiatives on campus and facilitates workshops regularly on and off campus related to vocation, mentoring, careers, motivation, and leadership.  In his free time, TJ enjoys drawing, reading, blogging, and inspiring others to reach for their potential.  TJ’s family consists of his wife Brittany, his daughter Ava, and his Schnoodle named Oreo.
Kelly Kelly Beck

Kelly Beck, Ed.S., Academic Success Associate, graduated from Wartburg College with a B.A. in Psychology in 2004.  She holds an M.A. in Educational Psychology and an Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa.  Prior to coming to Wartburg, she served as a school psychologist for Keystone Area Education Agency for five years.  As the Pathways Center Academic Success Associate, Kelly coordinates Disability Services as well as Testing Services and works with at-risk students.  Kelly is a member of Wartburg’s Diversity and Inclusion Council and serves as a co-advisor to Alliance, the student organization which aims to generate awareness about LGBTQ issues and advocate for more inclusive environments.  Kelly also serves as a member of the Southeast Elementary Parent Group.  Her family includes her husband Jeff and two children, Natalie and Trevor.

Whitney Baker

Whitney Baker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2012 and a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.E.) degree in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs in 2014, both from the University of Northern Iowa. In the Pathways Center, Whitney coordinates the Supplemental Instruction program, provides career advising, and manages the Math Lab. In addition to her work at Wartburg, Whitney also works at Threehouse: A Wesley Foundation. At Threehouse, she is involved in implementing a grant funded by the Lilly Foundation, Inc. to open a Center for Vocational Reflection (CVR). The purpose of the CVR is to provide opportunities for college students to discover their vocation and direction in life. Whitney is originally from Marshalltown, IA and currently lives in Cedar Falls, IA with her husband, Brandon.

Iesha Ieshia Brown

Ieshia Brown holds a B.A. in Social Work and a Minor in Leadership from Wartburg College. Ieshia serves as a resource to multicultural first year students who are interested in having a mentor throughout their first year of college. She is on the board of Real Life Church’s Youth Outreach Center which, is an initiative to establish mentoring relationships and educational opportunities for under severed youth in the Waterloo community. Ieshia has had a variety of experiences working with underserved populations, both domestically and internationally. She worked with a non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado called Urban Peak, who serves youth ages 15 to 24 who experience homelessness. She also has helped with community building initiatives and free medical clinics in countries such as Trinidad and the Dominican Republic. Ieshia enjoys motivating and inspiring students through creating an environment of hope and determination.
