Scott Muntefering joined the Wartburg music faculty in 2009. He teaches instrumental music education courses and studio trumpet at Wartburg College.
Before coming to Wartburg, Muntefering taught in the public and private schools in Iowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota on the secondary and collegiate level. He has also been on the faculty of numerous camps and festivals as well as serving as Music Director for the Sioux Empire Youth Orchestra Wind Ensemble in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Professor Muntefering has performed extensively throughout the Midwest with the South Dakota Symphony, Dakota Wind Ensemble, Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, Greater Grand Forks Symphony, Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Sioux Falls Big Band, and the Jazz Arts Group of Fargo-Moorhead. He has also been a featured trumpet soloist with the South Dakota Chamber Orchestra, Sioux Falls Municipal Band, and Sioux Empire Brass Society.
He has received the Bachelor of Music Education degree and Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from the University of South Dakota and is finishing the requirements for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trumpet performance from North Dakota State University. His primary trumpet teachers include Dr. Harold Krueger, Dr. Rolf Olson, and Dr. Neil Mueller.
