"Real Men Sing" Choir Festival

Hosted by the Wartburg Ritterchor and directed by Dr. Lee Nelson, this festival is unlike any other in Iowa.   Over 300 male singers from around the state will join in a day of singing & voice masterclasses.  New this year is a continued learning session for music teachers dealing with the male singers voice, program development and recruitment of men for your program.  The one-day festival will culminate with a finale concert open to the public at 5 p.m. in the Wartburg Chapel. The concert will feature the Wartburg Ritterchor, Festeburg, and the Real Men Sing Festival Mass Choir.

Meistersinger Honor Choir Festival

The Wartburg Music Department hosts an annual weekend choral festival of the state's most talented vocal musicians. The Meistersinger Honor Choir is conducted by Dr. Lee Nelson, director of choral activities and associate professor of music. The weekend culminates with a concert featuring the honor choir as well as select Wartburg vocal ensembles. Guest ensembles and soloists are typically also part of the program. Recent guest performers have included the Omaha Symphony Brass and world-reknown opera star Simon Estes. Call 319-352-8300 for additional information.

Meistersinger Honor Band Festival
Feb. 4-5, 2012
The Wartburg Music Department hosts an annual weekend band festival of the areas most talented instrumental musicians. The Meistersinger Honor Band is hosted by Dr. Craig A. Hancock, director of bands and associate professor of music. The weekend culminates with a concert featuring the honor bands, as well the the Wartburg College Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Wartburg Trumpet Festival
March 9, 2012

Hosted by the Wartburg Trumpet Studio and Dr. Scott Muntefering, the Wartburg Trumpet Festival brings internationally renown trumpet performers and educators to campus for a one day festival for high school trumpet players.  The festival includes a mass trumpet choir comprised of the festival participants, clinics and masterclasses with the guest artists, and a finale concert featuring the mass trumpet choir, guest artists, and the Wartburg Brass Choir.  This year's guest artists include Allen Vizzutti and Scott Olson. A guest recital will be given by Vizzutti and Olson the night before the festival on March 8th at 7pm in the Wartburg Chapel.

Wartburg Vocal Jazz Honor Choir
Feb. 11-12, 2011
Dr. Jane Andrews and the Wartburg College Castle Singers host the second annual Wartburg Vocal Jazz Honor Choir. The Castle Singers had an amazing experience during their Brazilian tour last May which has inspired a Latin theme for the festival.  Registration will run from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon with the first rehearsal at 4 p.m. On Saturday there will be more rehearsals with an evening concert at 6:30 p.m.
