Dr. Jonathan Chenoweth

Cellist Jonathan Chenoweth received his training at the Oberlin Conservatory and the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he was a student of Richard Kapuscinski and Timothy Eddy. He has performed as a member of the Dakota Quartet, the Soviet Emigré Chamber Orchestra, the Richmond (VA) Symphony, and the contemporary music group Bis. He has been a soloist at festivals in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Vermont and has taught at universities in Pennsylvania, Missouri, and South Dakota. He has shared the stage with a wide variety of performers, from Bernard Greenhouse and Yo-Yo Ma to Ella Fitzgerald and Mannheim Steamroller.
Dr. Chenoweth is also chair of the String Division and coordinator of chamber music activities at the University of Northern Iowa. From 1991-2011 he served as principal cellist with the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, a group in which a number of his students and former students also play.
