PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS ON THE THEME OF OUTFLY
 |
| Student Body President Eric Benson ’09, New Hampton, and President Jack R. Ohle announce Outfly 2007. |
 |
| A large crowd turned out at the Victory Bell the morning of Oct. 4 to hear the official announcement of Outfly 2007. |
 |
| Members of the faculty and staff served students breakfast the morning of Outfly. Among the guest servers were, from left, Pam Ohrt, lecturer in communication arts; Dr. Ferol Menzel, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty; Dr. Mariah Birgen, associate professor of mathematics; and Scott Leisinger, vice president for institutional advancement. |
If my research is correct, the word Ausflug means, among other things, an excursion, an outing, a first-flight (as with birds). An Ausflugler is a tourist or an excursionist.
PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS ON THE THEME OF OUTFLY
“Ausflug!” “Outfly!”
Echoes through the years.
When will it arrive? I hope it’s soon.
I need a break from classroom schedules—
a time to wander free,
to join in the party,
a retreat, perhaps, we’ll see.
Thank you, Lord, for memories.
“Ausflug!” “Outfly!”
An invite here and now.
Should I plan to go? Yes, I think I will.
I like these times amidst life’s pressures—
to be with those I know,
to share in heritage,
to eat some brats, then go.
Thank you, Lord, for days like these.
“Ausflug!” “Outfly!”
A call to look ahead.
Where do I go from here? Continue the excursion.
The name I have looks toward tomorrow – Ausflugler.”
Think “Travelocity.”
Be like a bird on first flight.
Think possibility.
Thank you, Lord, for hope.
