The March 4 event was hosted by the Actuarial Foundation. Scofield, who has more than 40 years of distinguished experience in the insurance industry and continued involvement with academia, was honored as an “Insurance Legend.”

Now retired, Scofield remains active. He continues to provide leadership to Scottish Re. He is also a longtime member of the Wartburg Board of Regents. In addition, he promotes the insurance profession by mentoring Risk Management and Insurance students at Appalachian College.
His passion for motorcycles has earned him a place on the Board of Directors of the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, the directing body of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame. He plans to take a three-week cross country tour of the United States via motorcycle.
