Locating Newspaper Articles

Need help finding newspaper sources? Below are databases that which provide access to newspapers electronically. If needing current newspaper articles in print, our print collection is on the 1st floor and includes local and major newspapers.

  • LexisNexis: Comprehensive full-text source, covering 350+ U.S. and world newspapers. News is part of the Academic Universe.
  • Newspaper Source: Database within EBSCOhost with 180 full-text newspapers.
  • NewsBank: Contains 14 major metro newspapers and ten regional papers in full-text. It includes the The Des Moines Register, Cedar Rapids Gazettes, Iowa City Press Citizen, and Dubuque Telegraph Herald.
  • Knight Knowledge: Online reference desk that has links to regional papers and foriegn news sources.

    Offers coverage of social science databases, including Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts, Physical Education Index and ERIC. Provides databases for searching for scholarly information in books, journals, periodicals and articles. EBSCOhost's main database is Academic Search Premier but also has databases pertaining to health, education and business. Electronic Journals Directory Electronic scholarly texts from various journals in the humanities, social sciences, and economics. Includes news, business, environmental,  legal, medical, political, statistical, and general reference full-text sources. Over 100 language and subject dictionaries and reference titles in a searchable database. Project MUSE offers electronic access to nearly 250 quality journal titles from 40 scholarly publishers in the humanities and social sciences. OCLC catalog of books, web resources, and other material worldwide.
