WHY WARTBURG: As a high school student-athlete, I was looking for three things in a college: academic excellence, athletic distinction, and a campus that felt like home. Wartburg hit the mark in all three categories.

WHAT DID YOU NEVER IMAGINE YOU WOULD DO BEFORE COMING TO WARTBURG: Before Wartburg, I had never seriously considered going into medicine. It was my academic adviser who first suggested the idea, and it turned out to be one of the most important suggestions of my life.

HOW DID YOUR WARTBURG EXPERIENCE PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR FUTURE: Wartburg offers its students innumerable opportunities to be involved–in campus ministry, residential life, student government, athletics, and a multitude of other organizations. High involvement necessitates the development of time management skills, and I’m sure I will use these skills for the rest of my career.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WARTBURG TRADITION: Beat Luther Week has always been one of my favorite Wartburg traditions, not because I particularly dislike Luther, but because the week serves to unite the student body in a fun-spirited, common cause. It’s a great rivalry that promotes Wartburg pride.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS: My advice for current students is simple: explore. Explore your interests, explore your vocation, explore your purpose. Now is the time to get outside your comfort zone and get involved.
