Helen Leong, Director of International Student Services

Helen Leong, Director of International Student Services, joined the Student Life staff in September 2013. Helen graduated from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies and Chinese Studies. Helen earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law with a certificate in American Indian Law. She is licensed to practice law in Iowa, Hawaii, and Minnesota. Helen is an avid traveler, she has ridden the Trans-Siberian Railway, hiked the Appalachian Trail, and camped on the Great Wall of China. She has lived in Paris, France; Beijing, China; Helsinki, Finland; and, prior to moving to Waverly, Honolulu, Hawaii. Helen is dedicated to working with diverse populations. She provides advising services to Wartburg’s international students.

Wendy Wendy Mohlis, International Student Friendship Family Coordinator
Wendy Mohlis has been with Wartburg College since August 2008. Wendy has her Associate in Arts degree in Business from Upper Iowa University and has worked in higher education for over 16 years. Wendy’s community involvement has included the Waterloo Jaycees, Past President of the Waterloo Women’s Police Auxiliary, and she enjoys supporting her local school and church activities. At Wartburg, Wendy has participated as a service trip advisor to Kentucky and East St. Louis and is proud to be involved in the international student friendship family program. Wendy has hosted two Alumni students from Nigeria and is currently hosting students from West Sahara, Africa and Tokyo, Japan. Kasandra

Kassy Kahler, Residential Life Service & Learning Coordinator and the International Student Programming Assistant, comes to Wartburg from Waterloo, IA and East Dubuque, IL. Kassy received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Global Studies and a Minor in French from the University of Northern Iowa. Kassy has a passion for intercultural interactions, service in community, and personal development. She enjoys being outdoors with family and friends, traveling, volunteering, exercising, and attending students’ extracurricular activities.

 

Vickey Klunder, Administrative Assistant

Vickey Klunder, Office Coordinator, is the person that greets you when you come to the Student Life Offices in the Saemann Center or when you call the International Programs Office.  If you need assistance or have questions, Vickey is there to help you or direct you to someone who can.
