Social Security
Wartburg College and employees each contribute 6.20% of earnings to FICA (to a defined limit) and 1.45% of all earnings to Medicare. Employee contributions are withheld from the salary check. Ordained clergy may claim self-employed status for purposes of Social Security, in which case they pay their own Social Security.
