Manchester
was a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and
baseball. He earned All-Conference honors all four
years in basketball and started at shortstop all four
years in baseball, earning the team MVP award in 1971.
He started 105 consecutive games in basketball as
Wartburg went 92-15 while winning four IIAC championships.
He ranks 10th on the all-time scoring list with 1,277
points. He was twice named NAIA honorable mention
All-America.
Manchester
was assistant basketball coach at Racine Park High
School in Wisconsin from 1972 to 1976 before moving
to Logan in La Crosse. He was twice named District
Coach of the Year and took Logan to one high school
state tournament. He ended his basketball coaching
career in 1997.
