Clarion, Iowa Bowman was a two-sport athlete at Wartburg, earning second team all-conference honors in baseball (1967) and honorable mention all-league honors in basketball (1967). He was co-captain of the 1968 basketball squad and was named Best Defensive Player that same season. Bowman averaged 10 points per game in four years on the hardwood and played on three 10-win-plus baseball teams.
